ON Trend: NEON Moment

26 Jul

So… NEON, ammirite?

Neon is out and about this year especially this summer. While brightly hued clothing, jewellery and even makeup isn’t new having had moments of insane popularity throughout the past 30 years or so 2019 is definitely a year for Neon to shine. This year Neon is popping up in little and big ways on the runway, in stores and on the streets.

Okay, so neon is popping and happening but you aren’t really a neon person so how can you incorporate this trend into your style? I would say a little goes a long way. Sure you can dress yourself from top to bottom in bright orange, hot pink and acid green, that’s cool but if you’re a little less…loud, you can try little accents here and there.

A great way to incorporate neon is with smaller clothing pieces like bikinis or cropped tops or jewellery pieces like earrings.

You can also add bright neon pops of colour with your makeup like a pink lip or orange eye or accessories like a wristlet or socks. What neon items do you plan to pick up? Have an awesome day!

Cheap Trend- Patches

23 Jul

Today I am exploring the trend that has taken 2017 by storm…patches. Like most current trends, patches aren’t new by any means but they have definitely made a big splash recently adorning everything from caps to bags to shoes.

One of my favourite looks with this trend is on denim jackets so I decided to DIY my own.  Due to the massive popularity of patches,  they are now widely available in craft stores, book stores, trendy clothing stores… you name it. And, they are often quite cheap.

I resurrected a cropped light wash denim jacket from my past and decided to give it a 2017 update with some patches.

1. Denim jacket

2. Patches

The jacket

The patches

1) Lay the patches out on the jacket and play around with the arrangement.

Lay out patches

2) Read the instructions for the patches CAREFULLY! Most patches can be stuck or sewn on but some can’t be stuck (I learnt this the hard way). Additionally, if you stick rather than sew, the garment can’t be washed so bear that in mind. I chose to stick mine on because I hope to recycle the jacket again.

Follow patch instructions

3) Apply the patches– If you’re sticking them on it won’t take very long but if you’re sewing it will obviously take longer.

Then you’re done!

I just love this trend.  I think it’s so great that you can inject your own personality into your fashion and it’s super fun, easy and affordable. This could work great on a backpack or a pair of denim shorts or whatever you like.

Hopefully you find some inspiration from this post and hoping you have an awesome day!

Cheap Trend :Socks and Heels

10 Nov

Today I will be chatting with you about a trend that has been all over the runways at many recent fashion week shows : Socks and Heels .

This is not to be confused with the tourist faux pas : socks and sandals .  No, no ,  this is a more elegant version of that look .

This trend has been cycling in and out of high fashion for years . I remember it having a brief splash in the mid-late 1990s but not so much after that. Until now. This look has been trickling in since early 2016 and now it’s back with a bang and I love it!

Socks and heels on the runway for Fall winter 2016-2017. From top left: Prada, Tommy Hilfiger and Missoni at the bottom.
I adore fashion , I go on YouTube and watch uploads of runway shows , I read blog posts informing me of the next season’s trends but the truth is I will seldom buy any of these items. This is what is great about this trend it is so easy to afford and pull off in so many ways.

So what do you need to wear this look?

1) A cute pair of heels

Cute shoes [CHECK]

2) A cute pair of socks

Cute socks [CHECK]

You probably already own multiple pairs of heels and socks are easy to come by , I got this pair for just $2.50.

This trend is suitible for various temperatures from thick woolen  knee highs paired with boots or ankle socks layered with leggings in cooler temperatures to light weight socks with strappy heels in warmer weather. Best of all you can get creative and DIY customise your socks from be dazzling with jewels to adding lace trim.

I hope my mini trend report has inspired you to try this one out or another affordable trend and I hope you have an awesome day!
